GBCm Member's Covenant

Believing that we had been led by the Holy Spirit to receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and that our Salvation is eternally secure in Christ, and after our profession of faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now enter into this Covenant with one another as one body of believers in Christ.

We purpose, therefore, by the help of the Holy Spirit to walk together in Christian love, to strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge of God, holiness, and spirituality; to attend its meetings regularly, to support its worship, ordinances, disciplines and doctrines; to give faithfully of time and talent in its activities; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry for the spreading of the Gospel; to serve the Lord in spirit of Christian love and fellowship.

We also agree to have personal devotions, to seek and pray for the salvation of our family and acquaintances; to set a good example for all men; to do all things for the glory of God; to avoid gossip and excessive anger; to abstain from the sale and use of intoxicating drinks and beverages, tobacco, and narcotics other than prescribed by a qualified physician; to avoid all forms of betting as well as all habits and amusements that waste time, talent, and money; but rather to be zealous in our efforts for the cause of Christ and His Church. We also agree that Christians are prohibited from bringing lawsuits against fellow believers to resolve personal disputes except for capital crimes and the local church possesses all the resources necessary to resolve those conflicts.

We further agree to watch one another in brotherly love, remember each other in prayer, aid each other in sickness and distress, cultivate Christian sympathy/feelings, courtesy in speech, slow to take offense, always reading for reconciliation, mindful of the rules of the Savior.

We moreover agree that, in case we transfer from this place, we will, as soon as possible, unite with another church of the same persuasion, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
