About Grace Baptist Church of Mandaue City

This is a summary of what we believe and value as a church family. We believe the Bible and teach it to be perfectly true. Every belief and teaching flows from the Word of God.

The Bible
We believe the Bible is the revealed Word of God, fully and verbally inspired by the Holy Spirit. It is inerrant, and infallible as found in the 66 books from Genesis to Revelation. We believe God has preserved them through the ages. 2 Timothy 3:15-17; 1 Peter 1:23-25, 2 Peter 1:19-21

We believe in one God, who is eternal, self-existent, infinite and immutable. He has one nature, one essence and one substance, yet manifests himself to man in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Deuteronomy 6:4, 1 Timothy 1:17, James 1:17, 1 John 4:4.

We believe Jesus Christ to be the one and only Savior of mankind. He is eternally God and possesses all the attributes of Deity and was virgin born. He was God incarnate in order to reveal God, to redeem men, and to rule over God’s kingdom. He never relinquished any attributes of His Deity, but merely veiled them. He lived a perfect, sinless life, at the end of which He was offered for all mankind as substitutionary sacrifice for man’s sin. This was a just payment to God for the forgiveness of sin, activated by His death through the shedding of His blood on the Cross and was accepted by God upon His resurrection. We believe He ascended to heaven later in order to sit at the right hand of the Father, waiting for the time of receiving His church at the Rapture, and returning seven years after to earth to rule and reign as king for a thousand years. Psalm 2:7-9, Isaiah 7:14, 9:6, Matthew 1:25, Philippians 2:5-11, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, 1 Timothy 3:16, Hebrews 7:26, Revelation 20:1-6.

Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is a divine person and has all the attributes of Deity. He has always been involved in the affairs of mankind and His special ministry began at the Pentecost and will continue until the Rapture. He convicts the unbelieving world of sin and seals, indwells, fills, guides and teaches the believers. John 3:5-6, John 14:16, 16:8-11, Acts 1:5, 11:15, 1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19-20, Ephesians 1:13-14

Sin and Salvation
We believe all men were born with an inherited sin nature from Adam so that man is a sinner by choice and totally incapable of reforming himself or ceasing from sin by his own power. His only deliverance is total change of mind concerning his sinful condition and inability to change it, and a turning to Jesus Christ as the only Savior. Only through the substitutionary sacrifice of Christ can he be delivered from sin. We believe all those who reject Jesus Christ as Savior are already condemned to the eternal Lake of Fire. Genesis 5:1-5, Acts 4:19, 16:31, Romans 3:10-23, 5:6-12, 6:23, 10:9-10, Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:5-6, Revelation 20:11-14

We believe in the one Body of Christ composing of every born again person starting from the Pentecost until Christ comes for His own. Each believer is commanded to worship, witness, give, gain instruction and pray together in a local assembly. He should grow into maturity, identify his spiritual gift and serve in the local church in the area of his gift by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. He must do so in the spirit of Christian love, fellowship and humility. 1 Corinthians 12:12,27, 13:1-13, John 3:3,5, Matthew 29:19-20, Hebrews 10:25,Romans 12. We believe that there are two Church ordinances- believer’s Baptism by immersion and the memorial of the Lord’s Supper. Matthew 28:19, 1 Corinthians 11:23-36. We believe that government in the Church is the rule of God among His people through the direction and the leadership of the pastor (or workers). As in the case of Moses, God speaks through the pastor, and the pastor speaks to the Church. The Church functions as a theocracy, not a democracy. The pastor is a servant-leader in the spirit of Christian love, fellowship, humility and holiness. 1 Tim 3:1-7, Titus 2.

Christian Living
We believe that the believer should separate himself from the world and its evil ways, and from disobedient brethren and apostasy- those religious systems or organizations that deny the basic doctrines of the faith. We must take a stand against any trend in doctrine, which leads to discrediting the Bible and undermining the fundamentals of our faith. 1 John 2:15-17, Romans 16:17, Titus 3:10, 2 John 9-11,17, 2 Corinthians 6:14-ff. We believe we must also be willing to adjust to new workings and leadings of the Spirit in our time that are consistent with the Word of God.

Marriage, Family and Sexuality
Marriage is holy and is God’s balanced provision for the basic needs of man. God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. Any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, incest, fornication, adultery and pornography are sinful perversions of God’s gift of sex. Genesis 2:24, 19:5,13, Leviticus 18:1-30, Romans 1:26-29, 15:1, Hebrews 13:4. We believe that human life begins at conception and the unborn child is a living human being. Abortion constitutes the unjustified, unexcused taking of unborn human life, therefore it is murder. We believe a successful marriage is the believer’s testimony and a happy Christian family is the nearest thing to heaven on earth. Ephesians 5:24-33.

GBC Church Life
   Life of the Body
GBC body life is under the headship of the Lord Jesus Christ for identity, direction and feeding.
We recognize the vital function of each member and his interconnection with others through the identification and use of everyone's spiritual gifts.
We minister to each others needs through sharing, testimonies and prayer.
We emphasize the family as the source of security and testimony that is real for those around us. Most of our activities are family-oriented.
From the pulpit, our pastors preach biblical, historical, exegetical and practical messages that speak to the heart and mind of the worshipers.

We are one with all true believers of Jesus Christ in the world, but it is through our local church that we have impact and influence in our community, city and province.
We maintain testimony as a people of God by living the timeless character of the Lord Jesus Christ such as love, faith, joy, patience, etc... everyday in the home and at work.

Our first ministry is to worship God in spirit and in truth using good, sacred, biblical music.  We do so with a lot of singing, regular choirs (children, youth and adult choirs) and concerts during special occasions.  Our musicians use different musical instruments during services.
We also minister to the whole man meeting spiritual, intellectual, emotional, social and physical needs.  We visit the sick, counsel the troubled, pray for those in need, and sometime give medical aid.
Our teaching ministry involves the study of the whole Bible in all age levels catering to the needs of each level.  We teach the Bible in story form for children in a three-year curriculum.  During summer, we conduct extensive and intensive VBS ministry for children and teens as a unique evangelism opportunity and venue for ministry for our youth and professionals. We follow them up through Bible Clubs all year round.
We have a playschool and nursery school for children where we continue the principles of Christian Education we have learned from experience.

Church Music
Every Christian organization must understand music at its deepest levels if they are going to have an effective music witness in this post-modern world.
Without a written congruent philosophy of music, an organization could go in a musical direction without much “understanding” or “knowing.”  Such an organization either tries to cater to everyone’s likes and dislikes or the exact opposite—they cater to whatever direction the music leader prefers at any given moment.
At Grace Baptist Church Mandaue, we will maintain a Balanced Perspective in Relation to Music and we will maintain a Biblical Philosophy of Music.

We have identified Biblical Principles for Music Appropriate for Worship:
    1. The Principle of Distinctiveness
    2. The Principle of Melodic Clarity
    3. The Principle of Proximity
    4. The Principle of Biblical Integrity
    5. The Principle of Congruity

Bible Version
We use the King James Version, New King James Version, English Standard Version in our worship and teaching ministries. Each Bible translation is unique, scholarly and accurate in the general sense.  Comparing each of these versions will add clarity, accuracy and completeness in the overall sense of the passages, chapters or books being studied.
