The seven church Asia (modern Turkey) in Revelation chapters 2 and 3 tell us a lot about the work of the Church in history and in the present.
Ephesus (a magnificent ruins now, no modern city) stood for correct doctrine and discerned false apostles as well as endured hardships for Christ's name but had grown weary.  It lost its first love. (Revelation 2:1-7)

Smyrna (modern Izmir) was faithful to the death in the midst of persecution and was promised the crown of life (Revelation 2:8-11).  Pergamum (modern Bergama) was a lenient and compromising church.  It allowed idolatry and immorality to corrupt Christian life and doctrine with a few faithful remnants. (Revelation 2:12-17).
Thyatira (modern Akhisar) started faithfully but failed miserably in the end.  Faithful believers turned to immorality and idolatry there.  (Revelation 2:18-29).  Sardis (modern Sart) was portrayed as a dead church though it looked alive from the outside.  Perhaps her lack of persecution and difficult challenges prevented her from growing. (Revelation 3:1-6).
Philadephia (modern Alashehir) was a missionary-minded church that used its little strength and opportunity to the best it could.  It opened a door of missions to the world that until now cannot be closed. (Revelation 3:7-13).  On the other hand, Laodecia (near modern Denizli) was a rich but wretched, pitiful, poor, blinded and naked church that did not follow the Lord's desire for is it to be hot for service.  Instead, it was cold.
We pray that Grace Baptist Church Mandaue will not become one of the dying or dead churches but will always be active in witnessing and serving until the Rapture or the end.
The Rapture of the Church will be a reality sooner than we expect and the Tribulation suffering for the world is at the door.  May we ever be true until the end.
