Our Journey of a Lifetime

Learning to walk with God is a long journey.  God knew He had to teach man how to walk with Him in stages.
Learning to know God personally is the path of a deepening experience with Him.  It took God about a thousand years of history in order to teach sinful mAn to desire Him personally.  This developed since the time of Adam to Noah, and from Noah to Abraham.
Then God moved to the next level of teaching man about Himself.  He chose a man and his family that gave birth to a nation that will teach the world how to walk with Him.  In Deuteronomy 10:12 it is written: "O Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways, to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul."  God did this from the time of Moses, Joshua towards the time of Abraham and to the period of growth of the nation Israel.
During all the above periods, two men walked with the LORD in a closest possible way and they did not experience death.  One was Enoch who was raptured directly to heaven after walking with God for 300 years according to Genesis 5:21-25.  The second was prophet Elijah who was raptured directly to heaven in chariots of fire in 2 Kings 2:10-12.
Then God's Son Himself, the Lord Jesus Christ came to life in the world and showed man how to live with God.  He did it without sin but in the appointed time was nailed to the cross in order to pay for the salvation of man.
Aside from Israel as God's chosen people, God also called the Church of Jesus Christ, as a people of God chosen to be Jewish and Gentile believers.  The Church is tasked with the responsibility of preaching and teaching the world about Jesus as Savior and Lord.  Though living in the end times these days makes it harder and harder to witness about Christ.
The Church today is also tasked to teach understanding of who God is.  He is absolute, perfect and loving God who is three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  The world now has a clearer understanding of God in three persons as Father in heaven, the Son as God in human form who gave His life in order to save us from sin.  But the world still has not fully grasped the deity of the Holy Spirit who amazingly shows the feminine side of God's nature in caring, leading, comforting, strengthening, empowering and upholding the people of the LORD in these last days.
We are commanded to walk in the Spirit (Romans 8:1) who is our Counselor or Helper or Advocate, and is the one who convicts us of our sins.  Finally, He convinces that we could only be righteous through the redemption the Lord Jesus Christ provided and that through Him, Satan is defeated and judged as written in John 16:7-11.  Today, Christians serve in the power of the Spirit while showing the fruit of the Spirit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22, 23).
These last days, we also have the joy of walking in personal devotion, Bible reading, prayer and service to Jesus Christ.  Let us do so faithfully to the end.
