When He Comes in the Last Days

We are blessed if indeed the Lord will come again in our time, being now in the last days. If so, then the throne room of heaven is getting ready (Revelation 4:3-8; 5). The Church of Jesus Christ is also getting ready as she is fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19,20) and meditating on what God said in 1 Thessalonians 4:17-18 and 1 Corinthians 15:51-53, passages about the Rapture of Christ.
The Apostle Paul wrote about people departing from the faith (1 Timothy 4:1-5) and about times of difficulties because of wickedness (2 Timothy 3:1-5) leading to the Lord’s coming again. Apostle John talked about those who will reject the person and salvation of Jesus (John 1:1-3, 18; 4:2, 3; 2 John 7).
The Lord Jesus himself gave the events that will usher the end of the age (Matthew 24:1-14). The Old Testament also pictured an aspect of Christ’s coming through Enoch’s (Genesis 5:23, 24) and Elijah’s (2 Kings 2:11, 12) rapture. This means that there will be an advanced taking away of the Church before the reign of the antichrist, after which Christ will come again with the saints and establish His millennial reign in the world (Revelation 20: 4-6).

Another sign of His coming is the eclipse of the sun and the eclipse of the moon. Bible scholars think that the eclipse of the sun is a sign related to world events. One is scheduled to appear on March 20, 2015. Then the eclipse of the moon according to scholars is related to events in Israel. There will be four eclipses of the moon from 2014- 2015 called lunar tetrad, a series of four lunar eclipses within a period of four or five years. It is also called the blood moon. One appeared early this year (April 2014), another recently (October 2014) and two more will appear until 2015. These are recorded in Matthew 24:29, 30 and Revelation 6:12. This present lunar tetrad is the eighth in world history signifying an important segment in the plan of God for Israel.
Meanwhile, looking closely at the book of Revelation, there are 21 major events of the last days recorded there. First the seven seals, Revelation 6-8:5. Our traditional view is that this will happen at the beginning of the Tribulation period. But new interpreters and observation of actual situations today seem to indicate that this is happening now and that it started last year 2013. Next, the seven trumpets, Revelation 8:6- 11:19. Most probably, this is talking about the beginning of the Tribulation period and will last until the middle part of it. Finally, the seven bowls, or vials of God’s wrath (Revelation 16-18) continues from mid-Tribulation to the end of it. It shows the judgment of religious Babylon (17) and of commercial Babylon (18). How the world will lament these sad events.
After all these the Lord will come again (Revelation 19) and the Millennium age will start (Revelation 20:1-6).
Let prophecy be fulfilled and our life assignment be completed. As what is written in Ecclesiastes 9:10 let us do with all our might the task in our hands. As in Luke 9:61, 62 let us put our hand in God’s plow and never turn back. Let us preach the Word (2 Timothy 4:1, 2), let us do the work (4:3-5), and let us run the race (4:6-8). Life is a race to be won, a battle to be fought, and a trust to be kept.
