2014 was a year that challenged GBC-Mandaue people to life a higher and deeper Christian life.  The call was to strive for the best for Jesus.
This year we studied about a deeper and higher knowledge of God, love and loyalty, missions for His glory, summer service, family, stewardship, encountering hard times, prayer, celebrating church anniversary, the culture, character and choice of thanksgiving and the love story and message of Christmas.
Closeness to God grows higher and deeper by knowing His Word more and more.  This means having basic knowledge of the Bible through regular and systematic reading.  This includes memorizing the names of Old and New Testament books and reading them through.  This also includes knowing the contents of each book and applying their teachings to one's life.
The goal of all these knowledge is a higher and deeper walk with God.  Intellectual knowledge would be worth if it will result to a deeper and a more fruitful and humbler walk with the Lord.
This knowledge should lead believers to present their bodies as a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1, 2) that is the believer's spiritual act of worship and reasonable service.  Doing this will also lead him to be transformed by renewing his mind and leading him to perform God's good, acceptable and perfect will.
Then this will guide the Christian to have a deeper knowledge of the Lord resulting in his experiencing the power of His resurrection life daily (Philippians 3:10).  This way, he can press on to win the prize or reward of the call of God to heavenly life in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:14).  To the end, he can run the race of life victoriously because he maintains the discipline to always look to Jesus (Hebrews 12:2).
